The four 1.25kg and four 2.5kg plates are particularly useful because they allow smaller increases in resistance. Instead of being forced to make a large jump in weight, you can progressively increase your training load as your strength develops.

The heavier 10kg, 15kg and 20kg plates then give you plenty of flexibility for major compound lifts.
